SLAM! edges State Farm 11-10 –> now 4-0!
Posted on Saturday, January 30th, 2010
Howdy SLAM! Pack,
It was a wacky day. First off, the SLAM!-mobile was headed to the wrong school and Coach Mike and Maddie arrived “late.” The girls played TUFF and battled for 40 minutes. It was a low scoring affair with both teams playing lock down defense with tons of steals, lots of blocked shots, and plenty of fouls. Points were few and far between.
In the end, the SLAM! prevailed 11-10 and are now are 4-0 on the year.

The SLAM! played the Shock this past weekend are now 3-0! I’d like to single out Breanna for excellent rebounding and great production in the paint and Analee for some sick, sick dishes. She did a great job at point. Once again, scoring was very balanced and everyone did a great job. Defensively, teams are having a hard time with the SLAM!’s defense.
Next up, State Farm — this should be a doozie!

The girls must have eaten their wheaties. The SLAM! had a great day on the court running out to a 24-0 lead at halftime. Claire led the team in scoring with 10 points and Maddie added 9 — including a 3-pointer. The scoring was very balanced with most girls getting 2-3 baskets each. Faith played great defense and seemed to have the golden touch. Anytime she passed the ball to another SLAM! girl, they seemed to score. Watch the video for yourself — she had the golden touch. Rocky hit some sweet shots and added some key rebounds and Analee/LeAnna did a great job running the point and creating HAVOC for the other team to deal with. Breanna “Zella” did a great job on the defensive end and added 3 points to the tally.

The first SLAM! outdoor practice of the year took play on the two artificial turf fields at Sequoyah Middle School. We are truly lucky to have such a nice place to practice on Sundays. It’s an absolutely perfect January surface. The girls worked on Infield Bunt Defense Mechanics, Infielding footwork and Outfield play calling.
